The Origata console by Nao Tamura for Porro was honoured with the Archiproducts Design Awards, celebrating the world’s design excellence and the synergy between designers and brands in the name of creativity, innovation and sustainability.
The Origata consolle showcases a monolithic design, drawing inspiration from the art of making kimonos, the traditional Japanese garment. Similar to how kimonos are crafted from a flat, rectangular fabric that is cut in straight lines and sewn together to minimize waste, this furnishing is created from a single sheet of aluminum that is cut and assembled using screws, maximizing the use of material.
Origata is a project that combines simple gestures and aesthetic simplification, giving voice to the values shared by the designer and the brand: cultural identity, internationalism, respect for materials and a propensity for the future.
Exhibited among the winning projects on the occasion of the Award Night last 14 November at Superstudio Più, Via Tortona 27, Milan, Origata is a project that combines simple gestures and aesthetic simplification, giving voice to the values shared by the designer and the brand: cultural identity, internationalism, respect for materials and a propensity for the future.
