Porro enriches its experience in New York with its presence at the exhibition “Home in the woods nyc: from Swedish Modern to New Nordic”, from 17 to 22 May 2013. Balancing Boxes, the small table consisting of a series of irregularly overlapping boxes in white painted metal and in red gum wood, as though balancing in space. Gentle, the chair characterized by a sprung back rest and two-tone and two-material effect, and Sundial, a wall clock standing out for its whiteness and circular shape with the 12 hours fitted perpendicular to the top, readable through the shade traced on the white surface: a unusual solution, which frontally is changed into a parallel line composition and from the side in an amusing number superposition are the three examples of work represented by the company 'Front Design' for Porro in the exhibition entirely dedicated to Nordic architecture, art, design, fashion and food curated by the Swedish architect, designer, educator and forester Maria Larsson in her gallery space at 29 Mercer Street, in SoHo. With long interdisciplinary experience including art, branding and urban design, she has resided in New York for 7 years, where she runs her practice after 11 years in Stockholm. Her installation matches selected unique pieces that represent the Swedish Modern by architect Masters Bruno Mathsson and Sven Markelius and the New Nordic creativity: a collection of the latest products by leading designers, by progressive young Nordic furniture companies, established high-end manufacturers and independent design studios. A story that shows sustainable craftsmanship through innovative historical and contemporary creations, exploring the artistic boundary with nature as material and inspiration.
