“The Twin sideboard comes to life from some concepts carefully considered in the studio regarding the lightness – or lack thereof – that such pieces of furniture should embody. We actually started from a somewhat primary, pure form – a cube. We then deliberately exploded and shifted this shape with the intention of giving it both meaning and functionality.
The mirror deceives the eye in the perception of the structure of the piece itself.
It is a piece of furniture that, when viewed from a certain distance, appears as nothing more than two bodies embracing, with everything else being the space surrounding it.
Our aim was precisely to highlight the company’s production capabilities with a wooden piece that would showcase this very expertise.
We also allowed ourselves to think that Porro’s furnishing solutions are not merely and purely aesthetic, but rather the translation of research into contemporary domestic living. Therefore, when designing this object, we wanted to give it great flexibility in terms of placement, so that it could be positioned in a more conventional way – against a wall – or, like here, gain value when placed at the centre of a space”.
