A quiet sense of order meets engaging sensory experiences. The new Ryo bookcase, designed by Nao Tamura, welcomes visitors to Porro’s 2026 interiors, conceived for both residential and contract environments.

For the fifth consecutive year, Porro takes part in the London Design Festival, presenting the 2026 collection at the Porro London showroom, opened in September 2022 in the King’s Cross area, north of the city, within the majestic brick building along the bend of Regent’s Canal that houses designer Tom Dixon’s headquarters. The new Ryo bookcase by Nao Tamura makes its debut alongside the company’s iconic systems and the new sofa collection: highly customisable proposals designed to naturally adapt to the habits and rhythms of contemporary life, creating multifaceted scenarios where design research, material excellence and compositional freedom come together in a refined and timeless living experience.

RYO BOOKCASE, DESIGN NAO TAMURA, 2026
After collaborating on the Origata bench and desk, Nao Tamura returns to design for Porro with the Ryo bookcase. A shimmering fifth element within the space, Ryo is composed of long horizontal shelves supported by triangular elements made by folding a single element, together creating open, multifunctional shelving systems for storing books and objects. The Japanese name “Ryo” (稜) means edge or ridge: the precise line where two planes meet in tension. Symbol of energy and stability, the triangle conveys both lightness and solidity, depending on the viewpoint. Assembled through an interlocking system, with an essential, hardware-free construction, Ryo transcends pure functionality to become a sculptural object, with its aluminum surfaces enhancing the interplay of light and shadow. Through light and color, Ryo articulates the interior with a quiet sense of order, shaping the surrounding environment and creating engaging sensory experiences.
