Porro @ PORTRAITS - FOTOGRAFIA | DESIGN

Superstudio Maxi

On the occasion of Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Porro took part in the exhibition “Portraits – fotografia | design” by photographer Walter Gumiero, dedicated to icons of contemporary design and presented as part of the wider SuperCity project curated by Giulio Cappellini.

Staged within the spaces of Superstudio Maxi, the exhibition imagines an ideal city projected into the future, where architecture, design, art and photography coexist in a continuous interplay. Within this context, Porro is represented by the Balancing Boxes coffee tables in eucalyptus designed by the Swedish designers Front in 2010. An object composed of a sequence of staggered wooden volumes, suspended in an apparently unstable balance, expressing the company’s mastery in the craftsmanship of this material, in dialogue with the dreamlike dimension of the photographic shots.
The images by Walter Gumiero offer a personal and poetic interpretation of the objects on display: often ironic and light visions that transform design pieces into true portraits, revealing their character and expressive strength. The physical presence of the photographed objects completes the exhibition path, bringing visitors from image back to the real object: pieces that have marked the evolution of design and that today belong to the collective imagination. Porro’s participation in this project takes on even greater significance in the year of the company’s 101st anniversary, reaffirming how its design language continues to express a recognizable, timeless and iconic vision, able to combine manufacturing tradition with a contemporary vision.
