Design Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro/ Wolfgang Tolk, updates 2025

The modular Load-it bookshelf, designed by Wolfgang Tolk in 1995, celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year: an important milestone for a project that continues to evolve over time, renewing its relevance through new combinations of materials and functions. Among these, the union of Load-it’s elegant minimalism with the versatile functionality of the Modern system by Piero Lissoni + CRS Porro stands out, giving rise to a variety of wall-mounted compositions in a refined play of shapes and finishes.

MODERN + LOAD-IT SYSTEM, FRASSINO WHITE/ EUCALIPTO/ VERDE GRIS
A luminous pentagram The double-height Modern + Load-it composition expresses Porro’s ability to create bespoke solutions for any space: the white ash wall panels and the steel shelves of the Load-it bookcase draw a pentagram, across which move like musical notes the wall-mounted units with glossy green gris lacquered back panels, the eucalipto suspended top and floor platform of the Modern system.

MODERN + LOAD-IT SYSTEM, ROVERE SABBIA CANNETE'/ EUCALIPTO
A warm and rich texture The wide-ranging Modern+Load-it composition is clad in rovere sabbia canneté, a sophisticated wood with a warm and rich texture, enhanced by silvery nuances. The Modern modules, in eucalipto wood, feature a tapered profile that makes them appear even lighter. The floor-standing board combines a unique front panel with the practicality of two internal drawers. Completing the composition is the Layer covering system, with a continuous finish that creates an integrated cladding effect with the architecture, adding character to the surrounding space.

MODERN SYSTEM, AZUKI
Vibrant contemporary atmosphere The suspended Modern composition in azuki lacquer, composed by two modules with flap door and Boite-Aux handle, recalls the system’s iconic rectangular arrangements from the 1990s. The result is a vibrant, contemporary atmosphere – where past and present engage in a continuous dialogue, shaping an ever-evolving design narrative.

MODERN SYSTEM, BLU REALE/ PALISSANDRO SANTOS
Harmony of contrasts On the wall, the Modern system is presented as three suspended square sideboards, marked by transparent doors and lighted shelves. The glossy blu reale lacquered back panels, contrasting against palissandro santos exteriors, highlight the infinite customization possibilities of this versatile storage system for the living area.

MODERN SYSTEM, EUCALIPTO/ AZUKI
Tones in dialogue New interpretations for the self-standing sideboards by Modern, elegantly elevated on black-painted Bridge feet. The new tapered module by Modern opens the way to innovative solutions and material combinations. In this composition, for istance, the eucalipto covering top, side panels, and fronts make room are paired with an open module in the new matt azuki lacquer, equipped with lighting, to optimally illuminate the objects.

LOAD-IT SYSTEM, CASTAGNO BRUNO 3D
A dynamic allure Load-it’s concept — thin, load-bearing L-shaped shelves made of cold-bent steel, paired with wall panels in steel or wood — has evolved over time, experimenting with new materials and finishes. Among these innovations is castagno bruno 3D: a finish created using solid wood boards of different thicknesses, manually matched to achieve an elegant look with a strong material presence.
