Porro continues to focus on the Far East, advancing its expansion project with a new stop in Malaysia, for the opening of the Kuala Lumpur monobrand store scheduled for September 18.
On the first floor of a shopping center in the residential district of Damansara, just steps away from its extensive green belt, the exhibition space dedicated to the Italian furniture brand is located within the multistore The Plan, specializes in prestigious kitchens and wardrobes, with years of experience in the industry and establishing itself as a trusted name in creating elegant, functional, and innovative luxury living spaces.
“In Kuala Lumpur we share our vision on living: an interior with architectural spatiality, where our modular systems and collections of products offer the opportunity for custom-made projects, capable of expressing different tastes and cultures, thanks to flexible production and a very wide selection of finishes” - explains Maria Porro, marketing and communication director of the family company.
Quintessence of Porro’s tailoring skills is the corner dressing room Storage, designed by Piero Lissoni + Porro Research Centre, which combines transparent compartments, fully open or closed by glass doors, with the transparent corner solution.
The structure and the metal parts, with their thin 25x25mm profile, that contributes to making the composition look even lighterand allows to perfectly match the different types of systems, come in the cuvée finish, a sophisticated and precious colour. The back panels and fittings are instead in white cherry, a Scandinavian-inspired light finishing that mimics the cherry wood grain, softening the rosy nuance with more neutral and universal tones.
To protect the most precious objects, the Storage Battente wardrobe is presented with leather doors, embellished with stitching that gives a true tactile sensation. A timeless charm given by the choice of materials and underlined by the addition of the Boite Aux recessed handles. At the centre of the room, the Hub central unit with drawer by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti in white cherry wood combines the wooden drawers on one side and a corda leather bench solution with a large drawer on the other, to sit and quietly contemplate the wardrobe, the heart of the house and a must of Porro’s offering.
Porro brings its very personal style to the bedroom as well. Suspended from the ground, the Makura textile bed by Piero Lissonihas a welcoming and inviting shape thanks to its sinuous and enveloping headboard and to the presence of comfortable removable cushions, paired with Offshore drawer units by Piero Lissoni in matt sabbia lacquer.
The Hinged Storage wardrobe features thick 32S sabbia lacquered doors and Glove recessed handles in leather-covered metal, telling of Porro's meticulous attention to every smallest detail. The interiors in new eucalyptus23 melammine, one of the refined textures available for Porro closet interiors, are coordinated with the tortora eco-leather covered shelves recalling the sober color of the door. Its path is interrupted by a module in teak with glass shelves, chosen within the 19 woods that enrich the Porro catalog.
In the vanity niche the Load-it bookcase with steel shelves, sabbia lacquered wall panels and a mirror, is accessorized with a Modern teak suspended shelf, perfectly matching the Romby chair by GamFratesi, whose truncated cone base in black stained solid ash wood, with an exquisite flared shape, is connected to a swivel upholstered seat, soft and compact, covered in red fabric.
In the dining room, beyond the iconic Ex-Libris bookcase by Piero Lissoni, presented with base and top in black sugi melammine and reflex crystal Block doors with lock, the Materic table designed by Piero Lissoni is presented with round calacatta oro marble top with a built-in rotating tray, suspended upon a black stained ash base. Around it, the Frank chairs by Piero Lissoni in white bouclé fabric, freely inspired by a French-styled déco, bring new comfort and expressive possibilities.
Designing spaces through clear and elegant signs, defined by the rigour of the lines, the premium finishes, the design quality: the Load-it bookcase with steel shelves and wall panels in natural canneté, featuring horizontal stripes alongside vertical ones, creates a fully-fledged boiserie system on the wall, a textured picture that can reach down to the floor, covering the space with a second functional skin. A hanging element with heat treated oak drop-leaf door on the left and 4 modules with glass hinged doors, which allow glimpses of the rosso cina lacquered interiors, enrich the composition. Finally, functional for home video equipment is the heat treated oak board with marble top, which alternates rosso cina open modules with functional drawers.
The Boutique Mast dressing room conveys a feeling of harmony in the dining room, featuring thin round uprights in burnished brass hosting the mirror, cantilevered shelves in heat treated oak and rosso cina lacquered open element in a vibrating contrast.
In the office area, the Pascal table by Piero Lissoni with black stained ash top, contrasting with the industrial wing structure in die-cast aluminium, is accompanied by the Voyage chairs by GamFratesi with a natural maple structure and a close-fitting dress in saddle leather, skillfully cut and sewn.
Piero Lissoni's Modern sideboard with glossy verde inglese lacquered doors shows a black sugi open module, is an architectural presence raised on the Bridge foot in the sign of decorativism.
The ambiance is illuminated in a scenographic way by the Gap hanging bookcases designed by Carlo Tamborini in the precious rosso cina metal finish: a strong aesthetic sign that acts as a book-end as well as a light source, thanks to the built-in LED lighting that runs along its perimeter.
