Alessandro Mendini passionately believed in collaboration between creative spirits and the importance of imagination. Twenty-five years after the opening of the Groninger Museum building designed with his brother Francesco, Alessandro Mendini (1931-2019) was given free rein to put together his dream exhibition, Mondo Mendini, held from 12 October 2019 to 05 May 2020. In a tour through dozens of Alessandro Mendini's revolutionary and poetic designs as well as works by numerous other artists and designers for a colourful, dazzling riot of fine art, design and architecture, also on show Schermo, the beautiful cupboard designed for Porro in 2014 and created with an inlaid design on the front, achieved by combining 3 different types of wood – elm, oak and acacia – according to abstract geometric compositions.
