Porro presents HYLE, the bookmark-house made of poplar

Talent and creativity, exquisite craftsmanship and the idea of an inclusive society that believes in collaboration and in the cross- contamination among different realities with the aim of building culture together. Resulting from the delicate and feminine hand of designer Elisa Ossino, Hyle is a bookmark-house, an abstract living sculpture where a book can be laid open in-between reading sessions to keep the place between the pages, paying homage to Porro’s privileged place of action, that today is more than ever a symbol of shelter, protection and love. Available from December 5 at the Porro Duriniquindici showroom in Milan, as an original Christmas present, the bookmark-house Hyle is realized in white poplar, a solid wood featuring a light colour and an impeccable look, very widespread in Italy, where it is the only example of planned forest plantations, suitable for the construction of durable objects that respect the forest while promoting its responsible management and regeneration. Porro has entrusted the manufacturing of the Hyle bookmark-house to the Contrada degli Artigiani of the Cometa Foundation in Como: a place where master craftsmen, renewing tradition, pass down the value of work, the techniques and secrets of the oldest traditional crafts to young people who live in challenging social, economic and personal conditions, by teaching the professionalism of a real job and making high quality products. The bookmark-house Hyle is wrapped in a textile packaging in furoshiki style, the typical scarf used in Japan to easily transport everyday objects. Reusable and sustainable, it is manufactured for Porro by the Cooperativa Alice, a cooperative which runs haute couture workshops inside the San Vittore prison in Milan with the purpose of rehabilitating vulnerable women.
