Porro contract solutions at Elle Decor The Art of Light exhibition

03.04.23

The quality of Porro’s products and their flexibility for contract projects are the protagonists of the exhibition The Art of Light by Elle Decor Italia magazine, which once again animates the Milan Design Week in the historic location of Palazzo Bovara, from 17 to 23 April. The special interior design project, curated by architect Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva, is dedicated to the theme of light, shown from different perspectives thanks to the expertise of the lighting design studio Metis.

In the exhibition, design, art and light architecture blend to create wonderful settings.

The Storage wardrobe system, designed by Piero Lissoni in 2000 and constantly evolving since then, was chosen to enrich the layout of the bedroom. Bright and light, Storage is more than a simple wardrobe: it is true architecture designing the space. It is presented in black sugi, an enveloping, extremely sophisticated finish, antique and modern at the same time. Combined with the black painted metal frame and the transparent glass Iron doors, it offers a matt black-ink surface with marked wood grain, inspired by the ancient Japanese technique of Sou Sugi Ban, which used to protect cedar wood by burning it with charcoal. The light embedded in the shelf highlights Storage graphic design and follows its lines, transforming it into a stage for your clothes.

Boutique Mast was also selected, the cutting-edge system designed by Piero Lissoni in 2015, that brings nautical lightness and a linear graphic design into the kitchen area. Drawing inspiration from the sailboat masts, Boutique Mast is characterized by round metal uprights in Iron finish, on which cantilevered shelves protrude like a “glider wing”, here in white cherry. Light and airy, it offers the utmost freedom of composition and customisation. Next to the Boutique Mast system is the Romby chair, designed by GamFratesi in 2020, and which smoothly and slowly turned into the “manifesto” item of Porro design with its ability to instantly convey the typical geometric purity, manufacturing excellence and artisanal flavour of the brand. Supported by a cone-shaped base in solid natural ash wood and featuring an orange fabric upholstery, it completes the writing desk area by welcoming the body with soft, sinuous lines.
