Porro participates in Memory and Contemporaneity, China Art Today, the collateral event presented at the 57th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia and promoted by the Palace Museum of Beijing. The exhibition, organized by Pegasus Media in collaboration with First Italy Limited and curated by Davide Rampello, Gianfranco Maraniello, Wang Yamin and Sun Jianjiun is a reflection on destiny of contemporary Chinese art, culture and civilization. The project, investigating the contemporary reinterpretation of ancient furniture Chinese industry, has involved 17 Chinese artists and other renowned Italian designers such as Michele De Lucchi, Antonio Citterio, Stefano Giovannoni, Italo Rota and Piero Lissoni, who presented the cupboard realized ad hoc by Porro. For his creation, Lissoni was inspired by the Palace Museum’s collections of the Forbidden City in Beijing, with its pleasant and sophisticated atmospheres, involving Porro, the brand that since 1925 is characterized by an intrinsic ability to select, work and interpret wood, shapes and elegant lines, globally recognized for its technical quality of details and finishings, as well as the propensity to create tailor-made projects and solutions alongside designers of international fame. The cupboard, in black stained hemlock, presents rosso Cina lacquered back panels and interiors of the drawers, and iron doors and knobs, demonstrating Porro’s ability in working with different materials.
